Nick graduated with a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Saskatchewan in 1956. He obtained a Bachelor of Laws Cum Laude from the same university in 1958. He practices mainly in the area of corporate, commercial, business, labour and oil and gas law. He has been a member of the Saskatchewan Bar since 1958. He was appointed Queen's Counsel in 1985.

Nick has a broad corporate background having served as Vice President - Law of Saskatchewan Power Corporation, President and Board Chairman of  Sask Power's Northern Enterprise Fund, Director of Pioneer Life Assurance Company, and Director of Canadian Pioneer Management. He is active in community affairs, being a Director of the Saskatchewan Roughrider Football Club and is past President of the Regina Rotary Club. He is a member of the Canadian Bar Association.

 Nick presently sits on the Board of Directors of The Saskatchewan Power Corporation. Nick is a counsel to the firm and has held that role with the firm since 2003. Nick was honoured in 2009 with a Life Membership by the Law Society of Saskatchewan.
