The second of four children of Leonard and Doris McCrank, Bob was raised on the family farm near Wilcox, Saskatchewan.  

Bob attended Notre Dame College and graduated with a B. A. degree from the University of Ottawa in 1967. 

After completing his Law degree at the University of Saskatchewan in 1970 Bob articled and was admitted to the Saskatchewan Bar in 1971.

Bob practiced Law at Regina, Saskatchewan until 2004 when he retired and moved first to British Columbia and later to Alberta. He has been an active member of professional associations including the Law Society of Saskatchewan, the Canadian Bar Association, and the Regina Bar Association. He is a practicing member of the Saskatchewan Bar associated with the Law Firm McCrank Stewart.

Bob has been privileged to serve in a volunteer capacity with a number of educational, charitable and other community organizations.

Bob and his wife Colleen now live at Cochrane, Alberta.
